The multiple ways MSG is hidden in our food supply
MSG is hidden by the use of the following words:
1. Textured protein
2. Yeast extracts
3. Yeast proteins
4. Natural flavoring
5. Autolyzed yeast extract
6. Sodium or Calcium casinate
7. Flavorings
8. Spices
9. Natural beef (or chicken, or pork) flavorings
10. Whey protein
11. Hydrolized vegetable/soy protein This is not MSG but it affects our bodies in the same way that MSG affects our bodies. This is made by boiling rotten vegetables or soy with sulfuric acid until it is a mush. It is then neutralized with caustic soda, dried, and made into a power, and sold as a flavor enhancer.
12. There are many more secret ways designed to fool or trick the public into believing that poor quality food will taste better.

This is another list of processed “food” names found on labels. These names are always covering up MSG. The more of these names plus the list from above, the more MSG you are consuming.

Malted barley
Barley malt
Malt extract
malt flavoring
Maltodextrin
Modified food starch
Brown rice syrup
Corn syrup
Citric acid
Broth
Carrageenan
Whey protein
Whey
Whey protein isolate

You might ask how the above words are involved with a cover up of MSG. The federal government allows the cover up by letting corporations use spices as an ingredient. If the corporation uses real spices they can substitute MSG as long as Spices represent 51 % of the food additive and MSG remains at 49 % or less. This applies to the entire above list except Hydrolized vegetable protein and the powers that be think we are too stupid to ask any questions about this product – it doesn’t have the connotation around it like MSG.
Also the words No MSG or No ADDED MSG is legal to use when a product contains free glutamates like hydrolyzed protein.
Some of the problems with MSG are headaches, diarrhea, and food addiction. This especially true in kids who are hooked on foods that they want all the time.
Dr Russell Blaylock has a book “Excitotoxins the Taste That Kills” where he explains what excitotoxins do to the human body. There are three excitotoxins
1. MSG
2. Hydrolyzed vegetable/soy protein
3. Aspartame (Equal)
These three products damage the hypothalamus in our brains which contains the appetite control center. With this damage many people are addicted to certain foods and become obese because they have lost the control of when they are full. (Of course massive amounts of sugar products in our diets also contribute to obesity.)
These three excitotoxins also are the cause of (or the largest part of) Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS. I highly recommend you read the above book.
What should we do? Buy local food from people you can look in their eyes (less likely to lie to you), don’t buy processed foods from grocery stores, grow as much food as you can (the back yard is better growing vegetables than grass with toxic fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides), and cook from scratch to assure healthy foods (watch what is in condiments/seasonings from grocery stores. Organic local foods are always a good choice as they may not have enough trace minerals but they are more nutritionally dense (better quality and quantity) and do not contain herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides.
